Research Interests
Jonathan Hess’s recent research and teaching have focused on German cultural, intellectual and literary history from the eighteenth century on, with particular interests in both German-Jewish studies and the legacy of the Enlightenment. Since 2003, he has also served as the director of the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies.
