Graduate Conference, “Marginalia: Life on the Edges”

February 15, 2013 @ 8:00 am - February 16, 2013 @ 6:00 pm

North Carolina Colloquium in Medieval and Early Modern Studies

The Thirteenth Annual North Carolina Colloquium in Medieval and Early Modern Studies will include papers that engage broadly with the notion of marginalia, ranging in historical focus from late antiquity to the seventeenth century. Our topic is intended to be expansive rather than limiting; while papers may certainly consider marginalia as they appear in manuscripts, they are also welcome to dwell on other kinds of marginal entities—be they social groups, texts, dialects, etc. The full program will also be posted here once the schedule has been determined.

This interdisciplinary conference will be held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on February 15 and 16, 2013. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Stephen D. White, professor of History at Emory University and currently a fellow at the National Humanities Center. The North Carolina Colloquium in Medieval and Early Modern Studies is a cooperative venture between UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University.
